According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, most falls happen in the home to people age 65 and older during everyday activities. Eight out of 10 of those killed by falls are over age 65, and falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among those over age 80. Falls are also the leading cause of injury and hospital admission for older adults.
Factor in slippery, soapy water; extremely unforgiving porcelain; and, the embarrassment of being naked, and you may want to think about a safer way to bathe.
Fortunately, you have many options today. There are ways to make your bathtub/shower a safer, and even therapeutic, experience.
