Congregate Living
Congregate Living is in between Independent Living and Assisted Living. Although the living quarters usually include a kitchenette, meals are usually served in a large, restaurant-style, congregate dining room.
These are multi-unit housing buildings (private rooms or full apartments) that are restricted to persons over a specified age, do not have ovens/stoves, and that include some supportive assistance, such as meals, housekeeping and transportation in the rent.
As with Independent Housing, Congregate Housing does not require licensure or certification by a public agency, since there is no personal care assistance included. As with Independent Housing, Congregate Housing residents may contract privately with Home Health Care or Private Home Care services.
Monthly charges may be priced at market rates or subsidized with government assistance.
